Be a Living Heritage volunteer

Living Heritage relies on the time, skills and experience donated by our international volunteers, all of whom are currently based in our Koslanda offices. Whilst we are not in a position to be able to pay our international staff we can provide room and board and what we hope will be an immensely rewarding experience of rural Sri Lanka in a very beautiful location.

Current Volunteers:

Paul Wagner (22)
Paul and Tea
Role: Computer Teacher/Directional diversity co-ordinator
I am currently teaching 12 hours a week of basic computer usage, whilst maintaining and creating some of our websites. I also have to troubleshoot alot of hardware and software issues which are constantly arising. The job is mentally stretching, thoroughly enjoyable and very worthwhile. Adjusting to the pace at which things happen is a challenge but a joy.

Gail Fletcher (36)
Gail and Sri Kanthan
Role: English Teacher/Team Manager
My initial task was to contact local schools to lay the groundwork for volunteer teaching programs. We are reaching out to the local community, teaching once a week at the local District Hospital, and planning a program for the local police force. At present I am teaching 25 hours a week and there is a growing demand for basic English knowledge. Koslanda is a hidden jewel in the Sri Lankan hill country with unprecedented hospitality from the locals.

Rebecca Harris (Becca, 22)
Becca with School kids
Role: Teaching Assistant/GIS Co-ordinator
I've been acting as a supporting teacher for Gail until recently. I am also fulfilling an administrative role and soon will be bringing my full attention to bare on the GIS mapping of the sustainable devlopment zone. This task represents a fortune of experience unimaginable anywhere else. I am living on a post card.

Shanil Jayasinghe (26)
Shanil at the office
Role: Administrative Officer/Materials Translator.
At the moment I am managing the accounts as well as translating teaching and promotional materials. I will be developing my work with the various projects. I have an interest in the GIS mapping projects. Koslanda is environmentally spectacular.
